OUTSOURCING TO INDIA

Once upon a time there was this company that decided to lay off it's American employees who handled phone work and hire workers in India.

The workers in India were paid less that their former American counterparts, but the pay was vastly superior to the average per capita income for their area.

One day an employee was kidnapped for a ransom. Because the victim's family could not come up with all of the money right away, the kidnappers bribed police to put the victim in jail until they could get more money.

The police called lawyers in Calcutta for an offer on the victim so they could pay the kidnappers to not kill any family members of the police. They finally got a good offer and the kidnappers got their money back plus the victim and train fair and expenses to Calcutta.

When the kidnappers reached Calcutta they sold the victim into prison and had enough to call the victim's family for more ransom money and station themselves outside the prison in case the victim bribed the guards to let him go.

The victim did not report for work and nobody could call the boss to let him know what happened, so his wages were reversed and he was replaced.

Languishing in prison for three months on trumped up charges, the victim manages to bribe crime bosses in prison for protection and the name of the most power lawyer in Calcutta. Miraculously, the victim's bail hearing was moved up to the very next day.

The victim finally got his bail hearing and the lawyer paid the judge to order a release.

The kidnappers, hearing the news from the guards, paid the guards to bury the paperwork at the bottom of a huge pile of other papers so they could continue to get ransom money from the victim's family.

The victim doubled the bribe to the guards and was released early. He immediately fell into the hands of the kidnappers who were waiting outside the prison gate.

When the kidnappers called the family for more money they found out that he lost his job and their was no more money so they killed him.

The company later found out what happened and instead of cutting wages to make their employees less conspicuous, they took out secret insurance policies on their employees and kept the proceeds.
