Once upon a time there was this guy (Bill) who slipped in the shower and hit his head. He fell into a coma.He was in the hospital for only an hour when some people from the state showed up to take his organs.
Newspapers and a cup of coffee fell out of the lap of Bill's wife when she was shoved out of the way by government officials who buzzed by and asked the emergency room doctor "How long does he have?"
"As long as he stays plugged in" the doctor whispered out of the side of his mouth. "She won't leave the room."
"His donor card says we can have his liver, and with the passage of HOUSE BILL 1077, we don't need her permission. " The government official whined under his breath. "so, hurry it up."
The doctor and the government officials turned and looked at Bill's wife who was cleaning up spilled coffee in the waiting room. She looked into the empty cup and sighed, then she got up off the floor and walked out of the waiting room to get another cup of coffee.
Bill did not survive the coma and his organs were harvested. From the date when HOUSE BILL 1077 was signed into law, nobody survived emergency room visits any more.
